On July 23, 2015, the Idaho Health Care Association presented its Skilled Nursing Facility Employee of the Year Award to Ricky Bacon, director of housekeeping at Life Care Center of Coeur d’Alene.
The ceremony took place during the IHCA’s annual awards banquet, held this year in Boise. The award recognizes above-and-beyond professionalism and customer service.
“Ricky is everyone’s friend,” said Donna Birch, marketing director. “He takes his job as a director very seriously and makes sure any resident requests or needs are promptly met. He will do anything in his power to get what the resident needs.”
An associate for 17 years, Bacon is well known at the facility for his laugh and whistling in the hallways, which spreads an atmosphere of positivity to residents and associates alike.
Bacon serves on the marketing committee, gets involved in the charitable fundraisers the center supports and even volunteers to drive for Meals on Wheels in the community. He organizes a monthly lunch for associates and personally cooks for the meal.
“My job is something I look forward to every day when I get up,” Bacon said. “I feel it’s my duty to make the residents smile and be happy about their environment, and hopefully they look forward to seeing me every day too.”
“He’s our superhero,” said Birch, “and we believe that the IHCA made the right choice in naming Ricky Idaho’s Employee of the Year!”
As the Idaho branch winner, Bacon, along with his wife, Judy, will be attending the American Health Care Association's annual conference in San Antonio in October.
